Monument to Polish independence heroes and Solidarity to be unveiled in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, with President Andrzej Duda in attendance.
On Sunday, at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, a monument commemorating Polish independence heroes post-1945 and the Solidarity movement will be unveiled. Polish President Andrzej Duda and his wife are expected to attend. The event, held at the spiritual heart of Polish Americans, will begin with a Mass at 12:30 PM, followed by the monument’s unveiling at 2 PM local time.
Symbolism of the Monument
Commissioned by the Smolensk-Katyń Committee and crafted by Kulinski Memorials, the monument represents Poland’s march toward freedom. The steps feature significant dates, such as the 1956 Poznań protests, the 1980 rise of Solidarity, and the 1981 imposition of martial law. The final step bears the word “Solidarność” and is topped with a cross.
Event and Forum Preceding the Ceremony
The unveiling is part of a broader series of events, including Saturday’s “March to Solidarity” Forum featuring IPN President Dr. Karol Nawrocki and Antoni Macierewicz.
