Mr. Kleks Fairytale:
Mr. Kleks Fairytale is one of the most recognizable works of children’s literature in Poland. The author, Jan Brzechwa, created the character of Mr. Kleks in 1946 – a magical teacher and friend to children who appeared in their dreams and took part in fantastic adventures.
Just over sixty years later, in 2008, Mr. Kleks Fairytale Center for Education, Culture, and Science was established in Katowice, inspired by the character created by Jan Brzechwa (Jan Wiktor Lesman).

The center is an interactive museum whose aim is to develop children’s creativity and curiosity, as well as to encourage them to learn through play. Among the exhibits, you can find interactive models of machines from the novel “Mr. Kleks Academy” (“Akademia Pana Kleksa”), which allow children to learn the principles of different devices and machines and to play with them creatively.
The center also features numerous experimental stations where children can learn through play. Thanks to them, they can learn the secrets of scientific and experimental work, such as investigating the properties of various materials, building paper bridges, or feeding live fish.
Mr. Kleks Fairytale is also an inspiration for many artistic activities, so the center also includes, among other things, a workshop of plastic arts where children can create their own works, and a theatrical one, where they can learn the secrets of acting.
