The official programme of ceremonies and meetings will begin on Tuesday morning in Ankara. The presidential visit will open with a wreath-laying ceremony at the mausoleum of Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkish statehood.

Key talks

The most important point of the Polish president’s visit that day will be his meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. It will begin with an official welcoming ceremony for the Polish delegation at the Presidential Complex.

After the formal part of the visit, the two leaders will hold bilateral talks. The visit to Ankara will conclude with a joint meeting of both presidents with the media.

On Wednesday, the second day of the visit, the Polish president will visit İncirlik Air Base, which plays an important role within NATO structures. This will also provide an opportunity to meet with personnel of the Polish Military Contingent in Turkey.

The NATO summit in the Turkish capital will take place on July 7-8. Among those who have already confirmed their attendance is U.S. President Donald Trump.
