    New entries on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Poland

    As a result of the decision of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Prof. Piotr Gliński, new elements have been added to the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Poland. Now, the list includes a total of 73 positions.

    Intangible cultural heritage is the practices, expressions, knowledge and skills that communities, groups and sometimes individuals recognise as part of their cultural heritage.
    

    The national list is a list of living intangible heritage from Poland and is for information purposes only. The list is maintained by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in cooperation with the National Heritage Board of Poland.

    The new entries on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage:

    • “wikowy” basket – the tradition of weaving in the commune of Ciężkowice
    • Weaving from spruce roots in the Silesian Beskids
    • Barbórka traditions and the cult of St. Kinga among the salt miners in Bochnia and Wieliczka
    • Customs associated with the cult of St. Barbara and the traditions of ore miners in the Tarnowskie Góry region
    • Cultural traditions of mining brass bands from Upper Silesia
    • Bobowska bobbin lace
    • Basketwork in Opole Silesia
    • Herbalism and herbal medicine in Opole Silesia
    • Embroidery traditions in Dobrzeń Wielki
