One in Four Polish Students Engaged in Cultural Educational Projects Supported by PGE

PGE stands as one of the prominent supporters of culture and sports in Poland. When it comes to sponsorship initiatives, the company places significant emphasis on implementing projects that foster the growth and education of children, as well as providing support to local communities.

Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the PGE Management Board: One in four Polish pupils participated in cultural educational projects supported by PGE

    • Every fourth student in Poland took part in cultural educational projects addressed to children and young people and carried out or supported by PGE.
    • 6 million people participated in all cultural events supported by PGE.
    • 420 thousand participants took advantage of the opportunity to actively spend time and learn to skate as part of the Winter PGE Narodowy on Track programme.
    • 18,000 children participated in sports activities organised by PGE-sponsored entities.

“PGE is one of the largest companies in Poland, a leader in energy transformation with enormous organisational and financial potential. We use this potential to support our sponsoring partners. For PGE, the sponsoring of sport and the patronage of culture are not only the promotion of the company and the brand. These activities are a very important element of our social responsibility – we want to be a socially committed sponsor. That is why we attach great importance to the implementation of projects in the field of children’s development and education. Through sponsoring we are building our commitment to social development, support for local communities, dissemination of physical activity and sport, but also promotion of culture,”

says Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.

“As a state-owned company, we serve society by ensuring energy security through the supply of electricity and heat, but also by supporting its development, particularly in the “small motherlands”,”

    adds Wojciech Dąbrowski.

PGE is a partner of Polish sport and an animator of physical culture development for children and youth

As a partner of Polish sport and an animator of the development of the physical culture of children and young people, PGE not only supports professional sport by taking care of the improvement of the conditions of Polish representatives but also provides funding for the development of sports infrastructure necessary for children and young people to participate in sports for children and young people to practice sport.

Supporting each discipline, PGE cooperates with partners at many levels, i.e., professional, amateur, children’s and educational. An element of PGE’s sponsorship of sport is also the promotion of physical activity among the smallest children as a form of leisure activity.

As part of the PGE Junior Programme, PGE in 2022 collaborated with 25 sports academies in sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, but also judo and ice skating. The Programme aims to develop children’s interest in a particular sport. Thanks to PGE’s support, more than 6,000 children have trained in the 25 clubs covered by the programme. In total 18,000 children participated in sports activities organised by entities sponsored by PGE in 2022.

At the professional level, PGE supports Polish national teams and the most important national clubs in various sports disciplines. In 2022, PGE-supported professional athletes won nearly 250 medals at competitions of the world and European championships rank.

Another element is an amateur sport, where PGE popularises recreational physical activity. Its flagship project is the ‘Winter PGE Narodowy on Track,’ which encourages whole families to take up ice skating. In 2022, 420,000 participants took part in 10 Polish cities.

    PGE Patron of Culture

As one of the country’s largest patrons of culture, PGE particularly supports educational initiatives. PGE’s goal is to provide universal access to education in music and the arts. It pursues it within the framework of the “PGE Cultural Group” programme.

Museums and music institutions supported by PGE, in addition to their regular activities, conduct numerous educational activities, including lessons aimed at primary and secondary school students or workshops for the youngest. In 2022 alone, more than 6,000 individual events were organised in PGE-supported cultural institutions, attended by nearly 6 million people. In addition, more than 960,000 children took part in museum education programmes supported by PGE. This means that one in four schoolchildren in Poland took part in cultural activities carried out with PGE’s support.

As part of the ‘PGE Cultural Energy Group,’ the company supported in 2022, 4 museums (the National Museum in Krakow, the National Museum in Warsaw, the National Museum in Lublin and the Wawel Royal Castle Museum) as well as 16 philharmonics and music institutions across Poland (the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, the Józef Elsner Philharmonic in Opole, the Silesian Philharmonic, the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic, the Zielonogórska Philharmonic, the Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic in Kraków, the Filharmonia im. Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic Orchestra in Szczecin, Witold Lutosławski National Forum of Music, Toruń Symphony Orchestra, Artur Malawski Philharmonic Orchestra of Podkarpacie in Rzeszów, Henryk Wieniawski Philharmonic Orchestra in Lublin, Oskar Kolberg Philharmonic Orchestra of Świętokrzyskie in Kielce, Henryk Wieniawski Philharmonic Orchestra in Rzeszów, and the Kraków Philharmonic Orchestra in Kielce, the Gorzów Philharmonic, Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, the Lower Silesian Philharmonic in Jelenia Góra and the Polish Baltic Frederic Chopin Philharmonic in Gdańsk).

PGE also supports initiatives related to the preservation of historical memory and national identity. As part of the “PGE Proud of History” programme, it is involved in projects such as the Warsaw Rising Museum and the Museum of Polish Children – victims of totalitarianism in Łódź.

PGE as an effective and efficient sponsor

PGE is a committed but also an effective partner in its activities. The effectiveness of PGE’s sponsorship in 2022 amounted to 817 per cent, which means that every PLN 1 spent by PGE on sponsorship in 2022 returned more than 8 times.

At the same time, public awareness of the sporting and cultural activities carried out by PGE is growing. Within the framework of research conducted on PGE’s commission by the Ariadna Institute of National Research Panel, in February 2022 on a group of 1,000 people, nearly 50 per cent of respondents indicated PGE as a sponsor of Polish sport, with as many as 63 per cent agreeing with the statement that PGE is a partner of Polish sport and an animator of the development of physical culture for children and young people.

In the case of culture, 75.3 per cent indicated PGE as a sponsor of culture, with 46 per cent of adult Poles agreeing with the statement that the PGE brand is a patron of high culture.
