PGE and Ørsted invite to the Suppliers’ Day

PGE and Ørsted are organising a special event for the fifth time to encourage companies to participate in the project of building offshore wind farms in Poland. This year’s meeting is aimed at component manufacturers and service providers who want to get involved in the process of building the supply chain for the Baltica 2 project – one of the two phases of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm. The meeting will take place on 10 October 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the PGE National Stadium in Warsaw. The 2022 event attracted nearly 800 participants, including more than 500 representing companies from Poland.

During the Suppliers’ Day, subcontractors and sub-suppliers will have the opportunity to learn about the activities implemented by PGE and Ørsted. Representatives of both companies, which are jointly preparing for the construction of the Baltic offshore wind farm, will talk about, among other things, the division of purchasing procedures between the two joint venture partners, as well as the QHSE standards applied and the requirements for suppliers in this regard.

    Opportunity for B2B meetings

In addition to PGE and Ørsted, the event will be attended by representatives of some of the suppliers of components and services already contracted for the development of the Baltica 2 project – one of the two phases of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm. This year, PGE and Ørsted have signed contracts for, among others, the supply of 107 turbines with Siemens Gamesa, marine transformer stations with the Semco/PTSC consortium, the supply of foundations with the Windar/Navantia consortium, and the laying and connection service for internal and export marine cables with Boskalis.

Representatives from these companies will be available to attend the event. During short individual business sessions of several minutes, registered participants will have the opportunity to present their company and discuss cooperation opportunities. Purchasing specialists from Siemens Gamesa, Semco/PTSC, Windar/Navantia and Boskalis will talk about the expectations of their potential sub-suppliers and subcontractors.

    Don’t delay in registering

Until 30 September this year, company representatives interested in participating in the Suppliers’ Day should register via a special form on baltica.energy. Subsequently, a second form will be available for those pre-registered, where those interested in attending B2B sessions with representatives of suppliers contracted by PGE and Ørsted will have the opportunity to sign up for a meeting with one of the four suppliers. This will allow the organisers to plan short individual business meetings accordingly. The representatives of the four invited suppliers – including their purchasing specialists – will speak English. Translators and interpreters will be available for those wishing to be assisted during the B2B sessions.

Get involved in the construction of the Baltic offshore wind farm

Offshore wind farms will not only support Poland’s energy transition but will also strengthen the national economy, providing thousands of jobs over the coming decades and providing numerous branches of the Polish industry with new growth opportunities.

Polish companies are already involved in international offshore wind farm projects around the world. The development of offshore wind energy in Polish waters of the Baltic Sea is an opportunity to develop the potential of many sectors of the Polish economy.

Among the main beneficiaries may be the steel industry, hydraulic engineering, installation services industry, broadly defined maintenance services industry, port and shipbuilding industry, transport and logistics, consulting and training services, and even hotel and catering services. In the relatively young offshore wind sector, more than 400 Polish companies have been identified as potential suppliers of offshore components and services. This is another event for suppliers organised by PGE and Ørsted.

The previous Suppliers’ Day organised by PGE and Ørsted in 2022 was attended by nearly 800 participants, including more than 500 representing companies from Poland.

    Baltica 2+3

The Baltica Offshore Wind Farm consists of two phases – Baltica 2 and Baltica 3. PGE and Ørsted plan to complete the Baltica 2 stage with a capacity of approximately 1.5 GW by the end of 2027, and the Baltica 3 stage with a capacity of approximately 1 GW by the end of 2029. With a total capacity of 2.5 GW, the Baltica offshore wind farm will provide green energy to almost 4 million households in Poland.
