Polish security services have asked the United States for assistance in the investigation into acts of sabotage on the Warsaw–Dorohusk line. According to media reports, the Americans have taken the matter extremely seriously.
Russian Strategy of Destabilization
According to information obtained by RMF FM journalists, Polish services have established direct contact with American institutions responsible for electronic and intelligence security. Cooperation began after a series of acts of sabotage on the railway line near the village of Mika, where a section of the track was destroyed. The Americans did not downplay the situation. Reports have appeared indicating that the National Security Agency (NSA) became involved in the case. The findings cited also indicate that American services “treated the matter seriously”.
The media also highlighted a statement by Senator Roger Wicker from the Armed Services Committee, who stressed that sabotage operations in Poland require a response on the other side of the Atlantic as well. In this context, the think tank Institute for the Study of War warned that Russia is intensifying destabilization operations targeting NATO countries. Prime Minister Donald Tusk, in his address to the Sejm, confirmed that the destruction of the tracks was carried out by two Ukrainian citizens acting, as he stated, on behalf of Russian special services. According to the cited data, one of the suspects had previously been convicted in Ukraine for acts of sabotage and, following the attack in Poland, is now in Belarus. The other is a resident of Donbas. Both of them, as the prime minister reported, entered Poland in the autumn and then fled through the Terespol border crossing shortly after the attack. Tusk also explained that, for operational reasons, he is not disclosing the suspects’ personal details, but Polish services possess complete information and recordings of their images.
According to expert analyses, Russian activities are part of a broader strategy aimed at testing the resilience of NATO structures and creating political and social chaos. The attack on railway infrastructure in Poland, a country bordering the war in Ukraine, fits within this pattern.
