Poland’s New Migration Centers: A Path to EU Integration and Security

Poland is gearing up to become a key migration hub as part of the European Union’s migration pact. This initiative includes creating a robust infrastructure, training personnel, and providing housing, financial aid, and other support services to immigrants. The EU plan urges member states to ensure legal and operational readiness for migration policy changes expected to be in place by mid-2026.

    One-Stop Centers for Migrant Support

In line with the new “Regain Control, Ensure Security” strategy, Poland will establish a network of “one-stop-shop” Integration Centers. These facilities will offer a range of support services, including legal, psychological, and material aid, focusing on migrants legally residing in Poland. With at least 49 centers planned, this strategy is backed by over 432 million PLN, building on pilot programs from 2014 to 2020.

Despite assurances of supporting legal residents, some political circles criticize the move, suggesting it’s a step toward implementing the EU migration pact. This has fueled a debate on Poland’s migration policy, especially amid ongoing pressures from the European Commission for standardized migration practices across the EU.

Poland also emphasizes border security as a countermeasure against the alleged exploitation of migration by Russia and Belarus. During a recent EU summit, European leaders showed solidarity with Poland, underlining the importance of secure, regulated migration as part of the bloc’s wider goals.
