“Police officers burst in without identifying themselves and handcuffed my assistant, who demanded that they show their ID,” Tomasz Sakiewicz, president of the station, said in TV Republika, describing what happened in his apartment. “From what I have heard, this was an unlawful arrest,” attorney Artur Wdowczyk confirms.
In recent days, attacks on journalists from TV Republika have intensified. Police receive reports of alleged threats or crimes and carry out interventions against employees of the station. “We have had 14 such cases involving the editorial office, our journalists, entries and searches,” says TV Republika president Tomasz Sakiewicz.
Today, police officers entered Sakiewicz’s apartment. There, shocking scenes took place
“Police officers burst in without identifying themselves and handcuffed my assistant, who demanded that they show their ID (…) Interestingly, they did not approach me, even though I said I was the owner of the apartment. They searched my apartment without any warrant, leaving no note and refusing to identify themselves,” Sakiewicz said.
“From what I have heard, this was an unlawful arrest” said attorney Artur Wdowczyk.
“I am shocked. We are most likely dealing with an unlawful search,” he noted.
The lawyer reminded that a prosecutor’s decision is required to search a home.
“We do not have such a decision, but even more concerning is the fact that Ms. Aleksandra was detained by the police. From what I have heard, this was an unlawful arrest,” Wdowczyk pointed out.
What did the whole situation look like?
“From what my attorney Sawicki told me, Ms. Aleksandra opened the door and asked the police to identify themselves. From a legal point of view, this is shocking,” attorney Wdowczyk said. “Ms. Aleksandra will file a complaint against the police actions, because they are unlawful,” he added.

“I have not seen such a situation for a long time, where two burly police officers handcuffed a woman. What was going on? Why did they need to use handcuffs?,” attorney Wdowczyk asked.
