“The collapse of the police ethos hits all those honest police officers, who are the vast majority,” said Tomasz Sakiewicz, president of TV Republika, commenting on the recent scandals within the police on the station’s air.
A woman staying at the Aramis hotel in Warsaw reported a sexual assault that allegedly took place on the night of January 11-12. The victim is not a police officer, and the man she identified is a police officer undergoing an adaptation internship in the capital. This comes shortly after a high-ranking officer was remanded in custody for three months on suspicion of raping a young policewoman in Piaseczno.
The matter was commented on by Tomasz Sakiewicz, president of TV Republika. “The collapse of the police ethos hits all those honest police officers, who are the vast majority,” he said on air. “The state is falling apart. The justice system is disintegrating, we see what is happening in the police, the prosecutor’s office, and the courts. The special services are involved in looking for kompromat on the president and his circle,” Sakiewicz listed.
Shortly thereafter, TV Republika reported another scandal – this time in Olsztyn, where an officer was allegedly making immoral propositions to subordinates. “Three independent sources within the police structures confirm to us that this concerns sexual propositions made to female subordinates by a newly appointed department head,” wrote Marcin Dobski on tvrepublika.pl.
