Polish students and a teacher gain invaluable experiences at Space Camp through the Endeavour Scholarship, meeting astronauts and engaging in simulated space missions.
Zuzanna Kassner, Aleksandra Skrocka, Benjamin Kopiec, Tobiasz Dąbrowski, and teacher Anna Bukiewicz-Szul had an extraordinary week at Space Camp through the Endeavour Scholarship. They engaged in cultural exchanges, met astronauts, and participated in detailed space missions.
Intensive Training and Cultural Exchange
The students experienced simulated missions in models of the ISS and shuttles, performed spacewalks in EVA suits, and trained in weightlessness. They bonded with peers from the UAE, USA, Australia, Chile, and Singapore during the intense program, which included historical lessons on space flights.
Ceremony and Special Meetings
At the closing ceremony, astronauts Charlie Duke, Woody Spring, and Mike Bloomfield presented certificates. Duke shared his Apollo 16 experiences, and the team attended a baseball game, where Duke threw the first pitch with the scholars.
Teachers’ Unique Training
Meanwhile, Anna Bukiewicz-Szul participated in a teacher camp with water evacuation training and meetings with NASA engineers and Homer Hickam, author of “Rocket Boys.” This scholarship offers a unique opportunity for talented Polish youth and educators.
Future Opportunities
Future opportunities depend on sponsorships. If Polish sponsors support this initiative, more students and teachers can gain invaluable experiences to boost the Polish space sector.
