President Appeals for Aid for Flood Victims

Polish President Andrzej Duda has pledged to visit flood-stricken areas once the immediate danger has passed. He emphasized that his presence now would divert attention from critical rescue operations. Instead, he called on citizens to support the affected communities in southwest Poland.

    Ensuring Safety First

The President highlighted that his visit requires security measures that could hinder relief efforts. He expressed his intent to assess the damage once the fight against the flood ends, shifting focus to recovery efforts. Meanwhile, National Security Bureau (BBN) Chief Jacek Siewiera is overseeing the situation on-site.

Duda announced ongoing efforts to provide aid, including an 18-ton shipment of water and essential supplies. He also offered a government facility in Wisła to house children from affected areas, aiming to restore a sense of normalcy, even planning for schooling if necessary.

Duda urged all Poles to show the same solidarity they displayed during the Ukraine crisis. He stressed the dire situation of many flood victims, encouraging collective support in the face of significant losses and despair.
