In response to recent floods across southern Poland, President Andrzej Duda has offered critical support to affected students. The Presidential Chancellery announced that the President’s residence in Wisła, Silesian Voivodeship, will be made available for groups of children and youth during October and November 2024.
Presidential Residence for Education Relief
The residence will host groups of up to 55 people, providing food and accommodation. It aims to offer a temporary educational space, particularly for schools that cannot fully function due to flood damage. The program will allow children to participate in activities similar to “green school” programs, ensuring they don’t fall behind in their education.
More than 600 schools and educational institutions in Lower Silesia, Opole, Lubusz, and Silesia Voivodeships have been closed due to severe flooding. In response, the Presidential Chancellery and the National Security Bureau (BBN) will assess the specific needs of local governments, prioritizing communities unable to provide adequate educational facilities.
President Duda’s initiative seeks to ease the burden on affected regions, ensuring students have access to alternative educational spaces during this challenging period.
