President Nawrocki Arrives at Visegrad Summit with “Great Hopes”

“I am coming here with great hopes, and in my view this format still has many good years and decades ahead of it. There are many things that unite us, and I am very glad that there are so many. In my assessment, the Visegrad Group (V4) is an important format and a forum for dialogue on the issues that unite us,” said today in Esztergom the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki.

A plenary session of the leaders of the Visegrad Group (V4) is underway in Esztergom, Hungary.

“I am coming here with great hopes, and in my view this format still has many good years and decades ahead of it. There are many things that unite us, and I am very glad that there are so many. In my assessment, the V4 is an important format and a forum for dialogue on the issues that unite us, and among them I see opposition to the forced relocation of migrants, the Green Deal, the EU’s climate policy, or projects aimed at centralising the EU. There are many issues that will allow us to speak with one voice, but it is also worth addressing what divides us – and there are fewer such issues,” said President of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki before the meeting began.

“Today I very much hope – and I have spoken about this – that we will speak with one pragmatic voice. This has been the essence of the V4 since the 14th century: to look for the things that unite us, and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and our format must speak with one voice on many matters, when the whole world is in a moment of geopolitical turn and turbulence. I am glad to meet my friends and the nations that are friends of the Polish nation,” he added.
