Referring to the demand for reparations made by the President of Poland, the Federal President emphasized that from Germany’s perspective this issue has been legally settled, according to the statement released by the office of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
This morning, President of Poland Karol Nawrocki met in Berlin with the Federal President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
In the statement published on the website of the German president’s office, it is noted that the heads of state discussed “the importance of close and trust-based cooperation between their countries.”
They also “discussed the current situation in Russia’s war against Ukraine and agreed that Ukraine must continue to be supported, and security on NATO’s eastern flank must be strengthened,” the statement said.
As previously announced by the presidential camp, Karol Nawrocki raised the issue of compensation for wartime losses.
“Referring to the demand for reparations made by the President of Poland (RP), the Federal President emphasized that from Germany’s perspective this issue has been legally settled. However, the promotion of remembrance and memory remains a shared concern,” the statement noted.
