President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, has extended an invitation to the President-elect of the Republic of Poland to visit Vilnius. “This will be an opportunity not only to discuss current issues concerning cooperation between Lithuania and Poland, but also to further strengthen the friendship between our two countries,” emphasized the Lithuanian head of state.
“I trust that we will remain strong allies within NATO and the European Union, and that together we will continue to contribute to the security of the entire continent and support Ukraine, which is suffering due to Russian aggression,” said President Nausėda, as quoted by the Lithuanian Presidential Press Office.
Nausėda invited Nawrocki—who is set to assume office as President of Poland in August—to make an official visit to Lithuania. He reiterated that the occasion would serve as both a forum for dialogue on key bilateral matters and an opportunity to deepen mutual ties.
The Lithuanian President had already sent a formal letter of congratulations to Nawrocki on Monday, expressing confidence in the continued strategic partnership between the two nations.
Speaking to journalists on Monday, Nausėda stated that he saw no reason why cooperation with Karol Nawrocki should not be as fruitful as it had been with the outgoing President, Andrzej Duda.
“My relationship with President Duda was excellent, and our mutual understanding was truly complete. Poland, as a neighboring country and a partner in critical infrastructure projects, remains an exceptionally important ally for Lithuania. Therefore, maintaining strong relations with Poland is a priority of our foreign policy,” said Nausėda.
