President of TV Republika Spied On by Tusk’s Services: “They Want to Shut the Station Down”

“We can all see that, unfortunately, there is something to this. This government is very intent on shutting down TV Republika. They have spoken about it many times,” said PiS MP Sebastian Kaleta. The politician was commenting on reports that the president of TV Republika, Tomasz Sakiewicz, is being surveilled by security services subordinate to the government of Donald Tusk.

Surveillance of Tomasz Sakiewicz

PiS MP Bartosz Kownacki said in a conversation with a TV Republika reporter that the head of the station, Tomasz Sakiewicz, is being surveilled by services subordinate to Donald Tusk’s government.

“The editor-in-chief of your station is being surveilled by the services, and this is being used for a brutal, primitive political game. These are my thoughts, my conclusions. You remember the recent photos from Monaco and what happened then. Today, the services are being used for political struggle. They are not concerned with protecting Poles or with security, but with destroying one editorial office or another,”

he said.

PiS MP Sebastian Kaleta commented on these reports.

“I heard MP Kownacki’s statement. I fully share his suspicions regarding possible surveillance of the TV Republika circle,” he said.

He pointed to the context of recent posts by Roman Giertych about Tomasz Sakiewicz, which he believes “suggest that either Roman Giertych is inventing stories out of thin air, or something is happening around President Sakiewicz, and Mr. Giertych has information about it.”

“We can all see that, unfortunately, there is something to this. This government is very intent on shutting down TV Republika. They have spoken about it many times,”

he concluded.
