    Presidential Palace Illuminated by Bethlehem Peace Light

    On December 15, 2023, the annual Bethlehem Peace Light arrived at the Presidential Palace, embraced by President Andrzej Duda and First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda. The flame, kindled by scouts, symbolizes peace, goodness, and warmth, aligning with this year’s theme: “Let’s Make Peace.”

    A Tradition of Illuminating Peace

    For 33 consecutive years, the Bethlehem Peace Light has graced Poland, a testament to the scouts’ dedication to spreading peace and goodwill. President Duda expressed profound gratitude, acknowledging the light’s consistent presence where it is most needed.

    Harmony in Service

    The First Lady extended her appreciation to the scouts for their support to Ukrainian guests and their continuous aid. She also thanked them for assisting veterans and children with disabilities, highlighting their unwavering commitment to community service.

    Festive Wishes for Peace

    Agata Kornhauser-Duda conveyed warm holiday wishes, hoping for joy, peace, and respite from daily responsibilities. She expressed the collective desire for a much-anticipated peace in the upcoming year, 2024.

    Unity Among Scout Organizations

    Representatives from scout organizations under the Honorary Patronage of the President of Poland participated in the event, underscoring the unity and shared commitment to the mission of promoting peace.

    Bethlehem Peace Light Tradition

    Initiated in Linz, Austria, in 1986, as part of Christmas charitable activities, the Bethlehem Peace Light gained momentum under the patronage of Austrian scouts. Since 1991, the Polish Scouting Association has organized the tradition, receiving the light from Slovak scouts and distributing it to homes, churches, offices, and hospitals.
