Used car imports to Poland surged in 2024, with Germany leading. September saw a 16.2% increase in registrations.
The import of used cars to Poland continues to surge, with September 2024 marking the fifteenth consecutive month of growth. According to IBRM Samar, 81,310 used passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (up to 3.5 tons) were registered in September, representing a 16.2% increase year-on-year. Samar predicts that the total imports for 2024 will reach between 940,000 and 960,000 vehicles.
Age and Source of Imported Vehicles
Passenger cars dominate the import market, with 664,336 units registered so far this year—22% more than in 2023. The average age of imported cars has stabilized at 12.33 years, with gasoline cars contributing significantly to this figure (average age 12.96 years).
Germany Leads the Pack
Germany remains the largest source of imported vehicles, accounting for 52.4% of total imports. The U.S. recorded the highest growth rate, up 55.4%, overtaking the Netherlands. In contrast, only imports from Norway declined.
