In a startling development early this morning, the Operational Command of the Armed Forces Branches reported a breach of Polish airspace by one of the maneuvering missiles launched overnight by the long-range aviation of the Russian Federation. The missile was detected within Polish airspace for 39 seconds.
According to a statement released today, “On March 24 at 4:23 am, one of the maneuvering missiles launched by the long-range aviation of the Russian Federation breached Polish airspace. The strikes targeted towns in western Ukraine.”
It was added that “the object entered Polish airspace at the altitude of Oserdów (Lublin Voivodeship) and remained there for 39 seconds.”
It was emphasized that military radar systems monitored the object throughout its flight.
“All necessary procedures to ensure the safety of Polish airspace were activated tonight. This included the activation of Polish and allied aviation,” the statement read.
The Polish Military assured that they are closely monitoring the situation in Ukrainian territory and remain in constant readiness to ensure the safety of Polish airspace.
Earlier on Sunday, the Operational Command of the Armed Forces Branches reported, “intense activity of the long-range aviation of the Russian Federation, associated with air-to-ground strikes on objects located in Ukrainian territory.”
“We warn that Polish and allied aircraft have been activated, which may result in increased noise levels, especially in the southeastern region of the country,” it was emphasized.
During the night, the authorities of the Lviv Oblast reported a missile attack by Russians and activated air defense measures. An air raid alert is in effect throughout Ukraine following the launch of maneuvering missiles by the strategic bombers Tu-95MS.
The breach of Polish airspace and the intensified military activity in the region come amidst heightened tensions following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The violation of airspace raises concerns about the escalation of the conflict and its potential impact on neighboring countries.
