Russian Reconnaissance Plane Intercepted by Polish Fighter Jets

In the morning, over the international waters of the Baltic Sea, Polish fighter jets intercepted, conducted visual identification, and escorted out of the area of responsibility a reconnaissance aircraft of the Russian Federation that was flying near the borders of the airspace of the Republic of Poland – the Operational Command of the Armed Forces Branches (DORSZ) reported.

In a statement posted on social media, it was added that “during the night, incursions into Polish airspace by objects coming from the direction of Belarus were observed.”

“After carrying out detailed analyses, it was determined that these were most likely smuggling balloons, moving in accordance with the direction and speed of the wind. The flight of all objects was continuously monitored by radar systems. To ensure safety, part of the airspace over the Podlaskie Voivodeship was temporarily closed to civilian traffic,” DORSZ explained.

The command assures that it remains in constant contact with the relevant services, conducts ongoing information exchange, and provides the necessary data regarding the observed objects. – “The appropriate services are handling their identification and carrying out the necessary actions. No threat to the security of the airspace of the Republic of Poland has been identified,” the statement emphasized.
