Rescue teams from Slovakia’s Mountain Rescue Service (Horska Zachranna Sluzba, HZS) are currently searching for a 39-year-old Polish tourist who has been missing in the High Tatras since August 12. The missing individual, whose name has not been released, had been staying at a local Slovakian lodge from where he embarked on several challenging hikes through the mountain range.
Authorities confirmed that there has been no contact with the tourist for over a week, raising concerns about his safety. The Slovak rescue team is spearheading the operation with efforts intensified after Polish rescuers verified that the man had not encountered any accidents on the Polish side of the mountains.
The HZS has issued a call for assistance to the public, urging anyone who may have seen the lone Polish hiker in recent days to come forward with information. Contacts for urgent tips have been provided, including a regional phone number and an email address dedicated to the operation.
