Symbolic Move or Real Change? Tusk Reintroduces Border Checks with Germany and Lithuania

Prime Minister Tusk has announced the reintroduction of temporary border controls with Germany and Lithuania, stating: “We are reinstating temporary border checks with Germany and Lithuania.”

Tusk is being held responsible for the influx of migrants into Poland facilitated by the German police, as well as for establishing centers to receive more illegal arrivals — all in line with the wishes of Berlin and Brussels. His current statement is most likely a reaction to the sharp decline in support for the Civic Coalition (KO), partly due to more citizens becoming aware of the dire situation at our western border.

The first comments have already emerged claiming that this mobilization is a success of the grassroots Border Protection Movement, which has so far taken action along our western border to ensure that German authorities do not transfer illegal immigrants into Poland after they had ended up on their side.
