Synthetic Drug Lab in Barn Dismantled in Poland

The Central Bureau of Investigation of the Polish Police (CBŚP) has successfully shut down a clandestine synthetic drug laboratory operating in the rural outskirts of Rypin, a town in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. This operation led to the arrest of three individuals, marking a crucial step in the fight against drug production and distribution in the region.

The illicit facility, specializing in the production of a synthetic substance known as 3-CMC (clophedrone), was uncovered within a farmstead in Rypin. Polish law enforcement officers from the Bydgoszcz Central Bureau of Investigation raided the location, leading to the seizure of more than 10 kg of 3-CMC, 390 liters of liquid substances in the process of crystallizing into drugs, and 180 liters of narcotic precursors. These confiscated materials could have been used to produce over 50 kg of clophedrone, with an estimated street value of approximately 2 million PLN.

During the operation, authorities also discovered a variety of chemicals used in the drug manufacturing process, including hydrochloric acid, acetone, and aqueous ammonia, alongside laboratory equipment such as containers and ventilators. The law enforcement operation received support from experts at the Criminalistics Laboratory of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Bydgoszcz, officers from the Rypin County Police Headquarters, and firefighters from the Rypin County State Fire Service Headquarters.

As a result of the successful raid, three suspects, all residents of Toruń, were apprehended at the scene. They have been formally charged with the substantial production of narcotics, a crime punishable by a prison sentence of no less than three years according to Article 53, paragraph 2, of the Act on Counteracting Drug Addiction.

The apprehended individuals were presented before the Rypin District Prosecutor’s Office, which requested their temporary detention. Following the presented evidence, the Rypin District Court approved the prosecutor’s request, ordering the suspects to be remanded in custody for a period of three months as a preventive measure.
