Last night, Donald Tusk published – in his typical style – a post about… further prosecutions. What did he mean? That question could not be answered by his government’s spokesperson, Adam Szłapka. “We’ll see what happens”, he said enigmatically.
The domain of Donald Tusk’s government is not protecting the interests of Polish women and men. The main goal – as politicians in this camp repeatedly remind us, whether through their statements or actions – is… “prosecuting” their political predecessors.
Yet in a time of acts of sabotage, high unemployment, and new ideas imposed by the European Union, prosecutions should not be the priority. Nevertheless, the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, does not seem troubled by this.
It is no secret that just before the upcoming holidays, the authorities will once again direct their attention to the former Minister of Justice, Zbigniew Ziobro. Investigators recently decided to secure the politician’s assets and then submitted a request for his arrest. The court hearing has been scheduled for December 22 – on the eve of Christmas.
It is not without reason that yesterday evening the leader of the 13 December Coalition published the following post on social media:
“The prosecutions are entering a decisive phase. The state is acting patiently, consistently, and in accordance with the law. There are no sacred cows anymore. The innocent have nothing to fear. The guilty certainly do.”
The post drew significant attention. Nevertheless, most comments were negative.
Negative reactions are also directed at Waldemar Żurek, the Minister of Justice, who is now the “face” of these prosecutions. On Niezalezna.pl, we reported on the results of such surveys, among others.
What Did Tusk Mean? His Spokesperson “Doesn’t Know”
What remains unclear is what else, or what exactly, Tusk had in mind when publishing that post on X. His government spokesperson, Adam Szłapka, was asked about it. The standard answer followed: “I don’t know.”
“For now, I have no information about any additional developments that might occur, but we’ll see what happens” – he said in an interview with TVN24.
He continued, still without giving a single specific detail: “The Prime Minister’s job is such that he must always know more, and he always does know more than others in the government or administration. That’s his position. I’ll leave it at that. But of course no one doubts that the prosecutions have significantly accelerated.”
The “most interesting”, yet at the same time least informative, statement sounded like this: “The Prime Minister certainly has something very concrete in mind in this matter, but I do not have additional knowledge on this. I will probably obtain that information within the next few hours.”
