Szymon Marciniak to referee the World Cup final!

    Estimated reading time: 1 minute

We know it for sure – Polish referee Szymon Marciniak will umpire the final of the football World Cup. It’s a great honour for the Polish referee. On Sunday, the teams of Argentina and France will face each other, and the match will be umpired by three referees from Poland, FIFA announced. The final will begin at 4:00 pm.

Tomasz Listkiewicz and Paweł Sokolnicki will be the assistant referees for the final, with Tomasz Kwiatkowski in charge of the VAR system. The entire team is represented by the Mazovia Football Association.

Szymon Marciniak is receiving praise from everywhere for his work at the World Cup in Qatar. The Polish referee is to be held in high esteem by the famous Pierluigi Collina, who has the final say when it comes to casting referees at the tournament.

In addition to Marciniak, Dutchman Danny Makkelie, highly regarded by football headquarters, was also typified as the main referee for France’s meeting with Argentina.

Marciniak and his team officiated France’s match against Denmark (in the group) and Argentina’s match against Australia (in the 1/8 finals).

For the first time since 1990, we have a Polish referee in a World Cup final. The last and only one was Michał Listkiewicz as a linesman. Back then, West Germany won against Argentina 1:0.
