The 33rd Mozart Festival in Warsaw commenced on May 13, delighting music lovers with opera, symphonic, and chamber music composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This year, concerts will also take place in Vienna, Mozart’s significant city.
Opening Gala Highlights
The festival’s opening gala featured soprano Jessica Pratt and tenor Petr Nekoranec, accompanied by the Early Instruments Orchestra Musicae Antiquae Collegium Varsoviense under Michał Maciaszczyk. The program included overtures and arias from Mozart’s operas like “Don Giovanni” and “The Abduction from the Seraglio.”
Vienna Concerts
Three concerts will be held in Vienna, starting on May 19 at the Wiener Musikverein. Highlights include a performance at Mozarthaus on May 20 and a concert featuring Mozart’s last three symphonies on May 21 at the Hofburg Chapel.
Events in Warsaw
Warsaw will host performances of Mozart’s operas, the Great Mass in C minor, and the famous Requiem. Special events include workshops, Mozart Junior Festival for children, and a unique Mozart Night finale on June 30 at the Polish Theatre.
