The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran sent a letter to TV Republika, accusing the station of unprofessional conduct in connection with inviting to the studio an Iranian woman living in Poland, who spoke about the criminal actions of the regime in Tehran. “Get a grip over there – to quote the president – in Iran, because this woman came to us and described what the practice of a totalitarian state looks like, and unfortunately in Poland we remember how a totalitarian state operated and how it operates, and unfortunately we know this very well. Sorry, boys, if you get offended, we really don’t care at all,” responded Michał Rachoń, the station’s program director.
Michał Rachoń presented on air today the letter that had been sent to the editorial office of TV Republika.
“In the name of the Most High, Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Dear Sir, the interview conducted by your station, a respected media outlet, with a person who, in the midst of an enemy attack on her homeland, initiated by the massacre of 168 children and 14 teachers in the city of Minab, supports the aggressor, causes astonishment and regret. It is evident that creating content in such a manner and by referring to individuals who not only have no connection to their homeland, but also lack even minimal knowledge or understanding of key strategic and international issues, is unprofessional,” Rachoń read from the letter.
The document was signed – impersonally – by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He presented the letter alongside other documents that had landed on his desk – these, in turn, came from the prosecutor’s office and concerned various cases involving TV Republika during the rule of the December 13 coalition.
“These are various cases – organizing CPAC in Poland is a terrible thing, obviously. (…) Pure evil, to be punished. The Giertych tapes were revealed on TV Republika – to be punished. They invited a woman to the studio who explained what the totalitarian activity of a regime allied with and supporting Russia looks like – the same regime that produces drones attacking Ukraine, Poland, killing civilians – wrong, so the Iranian embassy sends a letter and tells us what is professional and what is not. Get a grip over there – to quote the president – in Iran, because this woman came to us and described what the practice of a totalitarian state looks like, and unfortunately in Poland we remember how a totalitarian state operated and how it operates, and unfortunately we know this very well. Sorry, boys, if you get offended, we really don’t care at all,” said Rachoń.
“This shows that we are dealing with a totalitarian regime, and the civilized world has responsibilities connected to this, and we as a state also bear such responsibility, and I do not understand the approach of the majority of Polish politicians to this matter. It does matter, and from the statement of this woman who came to us and courageously said what it looks like, this is clear,” added the program director of TV Republika.
An Iranian woman on TV Republika
The issue concerns the invitation to the studio and the interview on TV Republika with Mahsa Movafegh, an Iranian woman living in Poland, which took place on March 5.
“Only we, Iranians, are able to see what this regime is capable of. We need help from the outside, because we cannot deal with this brutal regime with our own hands,” the woman said.
She also recounted harrowing memories from her childhood in Iran ruled by the ayatollahs.
“15 years ago, when I was 9 years old, in Iran I witnessed people being doused with boiling water, gassed, beaten, and thrown into mosques. They arrested members of my family, and for several months we had no information about them. They killed my nanny – a woman who, together with her husband, was trying to have a child; she was in her fourth month of pregnancy,” she reported.
