The Return of Ukrainian Children and the Takeover of Nuclear Power Plants by the USA: Key Topics in Presidential Talks

During the conversation, former President Trump suggested to the President of Ukraine that the United States could assume control over Ukrainian nuclear power plants, arguing that American ownership would provide them with the highest level of protection. American ownership of those (power -ed.) plants would be the best protection for that infrastructure and support for Ukrainian energy infrastructure,” stated a joint communiqué from U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and White House National Security Advisor Mike Waltz. This proposal aims to enhance the security of key facilities in the face of the ongoing conflict.

Trump also raised the issue of children abducted from Ukraine during the war with Russia. He inquired about their fate and pledged close cooperation with both sides of the conflict to facilitate the children’s return to their homes. The White House emphasized that the U.S. President is determined to support Ukraine in this humanitarian matter, a stance that was met with a positive response from President Zelensky.

Furthermore, the leaders agreed on a partial ceasefire, including a halt to attacks on energy facilities. This decision had been previously discussed between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and its implementation was confirmed in talks with Zelensky. According to the communiqué, the agreement aims to protect critical infrastructure and represents a step toward de-escalating tensions in the region.
