Tom Rose, the New U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Heads to Warsaw: “I’m Deeply Honored”

“I am deeply honored and profoundly humbled to be asked by our history making President Trump to serve as Ambassador to Poland. If confirmed, I will spend each and every day doing my very best to promote, defend, and advance the interests of the United States of America and our fabulous DonaldTrump President,” wrote Tom Rose on X. He also added that he is already on his way to Warsaw.

On Wednesday, the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw congratulated Rose on social media. “Ambassador-designate Thomas Rose will lead the U.S. Mission in Warsaw, representing the President of the United States in promoting the U.S.-Polish strategic partnership with one of our closest allies,” the post read.

The U.S. Senate confirmed Rose’s nomination as the U.S. Ambassador to Poland on Tuesday. He had been nominated for the position in February by President Donald Trump. In September, Rose received the backing of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. It was the committee’s second vote on his nomination – the first, held at the end of July, produced the same result, but due to formal oversights, the vote had to be repeated.

Who Is Tom Rose?

Tom Rose is a conservative columnist and radio commentator, as well as a former adviser to Vice President Mike Pence, known for his strongly pro-Israel views. Before his nomination, he co-hosted the radio program The Bauer & Rose Show.

From 1997 to 2005, he served as publisher and editor-in-chief of The Jerusalem Post, and earlier, he worked in the government of the state of Indiana, his home state. In the 1980s, he was also a journalist for a Japanese television network and authored the book Big Miracle, about the operation to free whales trapped under Arctic ice. The book was adapted into a Hollywood film in 2012.

During his July hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Rose repeatedly praised Poland as an exemplary ally. He declared that he would work to improve relations between Poland and Israel and argued that Poland is unfairly blamed in Israel for complicity in the Holocaust. He also stated that he maintains excellent relations with both the government and the opposition party, Law and Justice (PiS), and pledged that he would not favor any side of Poland’s political scene.
