U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that he invited the Polish president to the G20 summit, which will take place in Miami next year. “There was a great leader here, a great new leader,” he said about President Karol Nawrocki. “We will invite other countries as observers. They call them observers, but they will have something to say. But I have already invited Poland, I sent them an invitation. It is great that they were here, as you know, there was a great leader here, a great new leader,” Trump said during the announcement that next year’s G20 summit will be held in Miami, Florida.
Trump also said that he would not attend this year’s G20 leaders’ summit in the Republic of South Africa, and that instead Vice President J.D. Vance would go.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he will host the 2026 Group of 20 summit at his Doral golf resort near Miami, after deciding not to attend this year’s gathering in South Africa. The G20 brings together 19 countries along with the European Union and the African Union, with the hosting responsibilities rotating among members. The exact date of the 2026 meeting has yet to be set.
Let us recall: President of the Republic of Poland (RP) Karol Nawrocki, after his visit to the White House, said that U.S. President Donald Trump had invited him to the G20 summit in Florida next year.
The United States will take over the presidency of the group of the world’s largest economies next year, and the meeting is set to take place at Trump’s estate in Doral near Miami. As announced by the head of the Bureau of International Policy Marcin Przydacz, this is to be the first step in Poland’s efforts to join the group. This fact greatly pleased Andrzej Duda.
“This was the element that moved me the most and brought me the greatest joy,” said the former President of the Republic of Poland in an interview with Katarzyna Gójska on TV Republika.
“For many years we have sought to formally become part of the G20. The road to this is complicated and tied to political circumstances. When there was the United Right government, which was under attack on the international stage, these talks were very difficult – especially when there was the Democratic administration of President Joe Biden,” Duda recalled.
