Trump to Politico: Europe is “being destroyed,” Poland praised for migration policy

In an extensive interview for Politico, U.S. President Donald Trump presented a devastating assessment of Europe’s condition, pointing to immigration policy as one of the greatest threats. In the conversation, in which the editorial staff described him as the most influential person shaping Europe, he also praised Poland – specifically its migration policy.

The interview was conducted at the White House shortly after Politico placed Donald Trump at the top of its annual list of the 28 most influential figures in Europe, granting this distinction to an American for the first time in history.

President Trump devoted a significant portion of the conversation to criticizing the current course taken by European states. In his view, the continent is in mortal danger due to misguided policies.

“Their immigration policy is a disaster,” Trump stated firmly. He noted that countries that once were models of security are now grappling with serious problems. As examples, he mentioned France and the United Kingdom.

“And Europe is … uh, if you take a look at Paris, it’s a much different place. I loved Paris. Uh, it’s a much different place than it was. If you take a look at London, you have a mayor named Khan. He’s a horrible mayor,” the president said.

In this context, Donald Trump singled out Poland, praising the country for its responsible approach to migration issues. Comparing countries that are handling the problem well, he said: “And Poland has done a very good job in that respect, too.”

According to Trump, European leaders are acting against the interests of their own nations because “they want to be politically correct, which actually, I think is the opposite of politically correct,” which, in his view, leads to the weakening and “decay” of the continent.
