On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump is set to hold talks regarding the war in Ukraine. His first conversation will be with Russian President Vladimir Putin, followed by a discussion with the leader of the embattled nation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The announcement was made on Saturday via Trump’s own social media platform, Truth Social.
Trump stated that he would speak with Putin at 10 a.m. Eastern Time (4 p.m. in Poland).
“The subjects of the call will be, stopping the “bloodbath” that is killing, on average, more than 5000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers a week, and trade,” the president wrote on Truth Social.
He will then speak with Zelensky, and later—together with the Ukrainian president—engage in talks with leaders of various NATO countries.
“Hopefully it will be a productive day, a ceasefire will take place, and this very violent war, a war that should have never happened, will end,” Trump added.
