“Our president carried out his task superbly – he put relations with President Donald Trump in order, thereby extending the very good relations with the United States. At the same time, this year we clearly observed the complete sidelining of Donald Tusk on the international stage,” said former President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda on the program “Polityczna kawa” hosted by Tomasz Sakiewicz on TV Republika.
Andrzej Duda on Karol Nawrocki: “He carried out his task superbly”
Former President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda was a guest on the program “Polityczna kawa” hosted by Tomasz Sakiewicz on TV Republika. During the conversation, the politician summed up the activity of his successor – Karol Nawrocki. “At present, we have a very specific situation in Poland. In international politics, one can speak of aspects that are beneficial and fortunate for Poland, and those that are disastrous or even tragic for our country. Certainly, a fortunate aspect for Poland is that the presidential election was won by Karol Nawrocki. This is undoubtedly a great reason for joy for all those who look with concern at Polish affairs and would like them to be carried out in the best possible way, especially in international politics and security matters,” he said. Duda recalled that “President Karol Nawrocki was already endorsed by President Donald Trump during the election campaign.”
“His reception at the White House was a spectacular event. This was followed by victory in the election and another, symbolic visit to the White House, which was in fact his first foreign visit. All of this positioned Poland very favorably in the international arena – it showed that among American allies we are in an absolutely one-hundred-percent strong position,” he announced.
In his opinion, “this was a very important moment for Polish foreign policy and our security.” According to Andrzej Duda, his successor “carried out his task superbly – he put relations with President Donald Trump in order very well, thereby extending the very good relations with the United States.” The former president also assessed the actions of the leader of the December 13 Coalition. “Unfortunately, when it comes to the other side, this year we clearly observed the complete sidelining of Donald Tusk on the international stage. He repeatedly tried to push his way into security issues in the European arena, forcing himself into various formats, which should be the domain of the president, but he was using his European connections here. In the very end, he was sidelined from this anyway and ultimately is not at the table,” Duda said.
