“We are in a global conflict, and its outcome will determine not only the situation in Asia but also in Europe. It must be clearly stated that from this perspective, Poland is of absolutely key importance to the United States, as it is Poland that plays a decisive role in blocking the Russian-German axis and in supporting the U.S. presence in Europe,” said Antoni Macierewicz, Law and Justice (PiS) Member of Parliament and former Minister of National Defense, in an interview with TV Republika, commenting on the situation in the Middle East.
U.S. Carries Out Strikes in Iran
Overnight from Saturday to Sunday, the United States conducted intensive airstrikes on Iran’s strategic nuclear facilities, significantly escalating tensions in the Middle East. President Donald Trump confirmed that the attacks targeted three critical sites linked to Iran’s nuclear program: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
Antoni Macierewicz, MP and former Minister of National Defense, shared his thoughts on the developments during a broadcast on TV Republika.
“The key issue is the result — stopping Iran’s further aggression. That is the heart of the matter. There is no doubt that this has been Israel’s objective from the very beginning,” he stated.
Asked about the possible trajectory of the conflict, he responded: “That will depend on how Russia reacts. Will it challenge the actions of the United States through aggression and push toward further global escalation, or will it engage in talks with the U.S. and pursue a global peace agreement? That is the fundamental question.”
“We are currently in a global conflict, and its resolution will shape not only Asia but also Europe. It must be clearly acknowledged that, from the U.S. standpoint, Poland’s role is of critical strategic importance. Poland is the country that determines the ability to block the Russian-German arrangement and to secure the acceptance of the U.S. military presence in Europe,” he emphasized.
He also noted that “there is no doubt that from the very beginning of his presidency, President Trump understood that his actions in the East required the support and strengthening of Poland.”
“That is why he declared from the outset his intention to establish Fort Trump — a permanent American military presence in Poland for as long as it is needed. This presence guarantees Poland’s strength, allowing us to build an independent Polish state,” he recalled.
