Ukrainians stand firmly behind Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They do not hide their pride in the UPA

Ukrainians are unanimous regarding Volodymyr Zelenskyy returning the Order of the White Eagle. The Res Futura service reported that as many as 99.5 percent of Ukrainians support the president’s decision, sharing their opinions on social media.

According to the authors of the study, in the Ukrainian online space, the decision of Karol Nawrocki was perceived as beneficial for Ukraine rather than as a severe blow. The vast majority of commentators were said to display critical attitudes toward Poland, with the dominant tone being not anger, but a sense of national pride and a dismissive approach to Polish actions.

A particularly symbolic element of the situation was the return of the Polish decoration to Warsaw via ordinary postal mail, which, in the opinion of Res Futura experts, was perceived as a gesture of contempt. The authors also note that some Ukrainian internet users publicly expressed appreciation for the UPA, despite its responsibility for crimes against Poles during the Volhynia Massacre.
