Vatican Statement on Meeting Between Leo XIV and Karol Nawrocki: Focus on Poland’s Situation

During cordial discussions at the Secretariat of State, the socio-political situation of the country was addressed, with particular attention given to the values on which Polish society is founded and to the need for building consensus in the face of current challenges – announced the Press Office of the Holy See following the meeting of the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, with Pope Leo XIV.

“This morning, the Holy Father Leo XIV received in Audience, at the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican, His Excellency Mr. Karol Tadeusz Nawrocki, President of the Republic of Poland, who subsequently met with His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of His Holiness, accompanied by His Excellency Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations. During cordial discussions at the Secretariat of State, the socio-political situation of the country was addressed, with particular attention given to the values on which Polish society is founded and to the need for building consensus in the face of current challenges. In the further part of the meeting, international issues were also discussed, with particular emphasis on the war in Ukraine,” stated the Holy See.

“President of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki, together with his wife Marta and their children, took part in the audience with Pope Leo XIV. During the audience, the President invited the Holy Father to visit Poland. He presented the Pope with an image of Our Lady of Gietrzwałd” – reported Vatican Radio.

Following the audience, a meeting took place at the Vatican Secretariat of State.
