“Wake Up”: Vance Sends Message to Russia

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance confirmed on Sunday that the United States is considering selling Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine. “The Russians have got to must wake up and accept reality here,” he said in an interview with Fox News. The Vice President also spoke about a possible peace agreement in Gaza.

Vance confirmed earlier press reports and the words of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who said he had asked Trump about the sale of Tomahawks, to which he received the reply: We’ll work on it.

“As the President said, we are looking into this. We are certainly reviewing a range of requests from Europeans,” Vance said in Sunday’s interview with Fox News.

He emphasized that the final decision on the matter will be made by the President himself, guided by the interests of the United States. “I will let the President speak on this, but I know that we are literally holding talks on it at this very moment,” the Vice President added.

Trump Shifting Rhetoric on Ukraine?

Asked about Trump’s change in rhetoric and his statement that Ukraine may regain its territories occupied by Russia, Vance said this stems from changing realities on the battlefield.

“One of the things I realized about President Trump’s leadership is he cuts through the BS of some of these diplomatic protocols, and just says I’m going to get things done,”

he noted.

He stressed that what is happening now, as the U.S. President put it, is the fact that “Russia is really stalled.”

“They’re killing a lot of people. They themselves are losing a lot of people. And they don’t have much territorial gain to show for it. The president is looking at the situation. He’s saying, ‘Look, the Russian economy is in shambles. The Russians are not gaining much on the battlefield. It’s clearly time for them to listen to his passionate plea for them to come to the table and actually talk seriously about peace,”

Vance stated.

The U.S. Vice President also emphasized that the Russians “have got to wake up and accept reality,” because their attacks are producing no results.

Vance on U.S. Goals

During the Fox News interview, Vance also referred to Trump’s announcement about a forthcoming peace deal in the Gaza Strip. He expressed optimism, though he admitted that talks could still derail at the final stage. Vice President also stated that the United States’ objectives are the release of Hamas hostages, the elimination of Hamas as a threat to Israel, and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinians. He further said that the U.S. President wants Gaza and the West Bank to be governed by Palestinians.

Trump’s Post on Gaza

Trump himself, who had already suggested on Friday that an agreement had been reached, further fueled hopes for a breakthrough on Sunday. “We have a real chance for GREATNESS IN THE MIDDLE EAST. ALL ARE ON BOARD FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL, FIRST TIME EVER. WE WILL GET IT DONE!!!” the President wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.

On Monday, Trump will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
