Ząbki: Intelligence Services Join Investigation; Sakiewicz Offers Drone Footage

On Friday, Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior and Administration (MSWiA), announced that intelligence services have joined the investigation into the cause of the apartment block fire in Ząbki. “Given the recent string of fires, it’s only natural that the special services are also involved in this case,” he emphasized.

According to Radio Zet, the building has been cordoned off with special barriers. Police are present at the scene to prevent potential looting. In total, 200 apartments were destroyed, and 500 people have been left temporarily homeless.

Special Services Step In

“At this stage, no one will speculate about the cause of the fire. Evidence and clues must be collected and analyzed by experts. Without that, any opinion from someone who just saw it on TV is simply laughable. I spoke with firefighters, and it is far too early to talk about arson,” said the MSWiA spokesperson.

Dobrzyński added that if any involvement of Russian intelligence services is uncovered, the public will be informed.

A press conference was also held Friday afternoon with Interior Minister Tomasz Siemoniak, Head of the Prime Minister’s Office Jan Grabiec, and Mayor of Ząbki Małgorzata Zyśk.

“We are investigating the causes of the fire. The police and fire department are involved, and—as with many recent fires across the country—the Internal Security Agency (ABW) is also looking into the matter,” the spokesperson said.

TV Republika Offers Drone Footage to Aid Fire Investigation

Also on Friday, President of TV Republika Tomasz Sakiewicz declared that the network is ready to provide investigators with drone footage that recorded the course of the firefighting operation.

“In the interest of national security and out of concern for all those affected by the fire in Ząbki, we have decided to provide the prosecution with video materials from TV Republika, particularly images captured by our drone. We hope this will aid in determining the cause of the disaster,” wrote the station’s president.
