Zelensky sets expectations for Poland: “These should be joint decisions”

“It is only fair to speak of a joint decision. Not only that the drone (…) should not reach Polish territory, but that such decisions should be made together. We have air defense, we shoot down everything flying toward us and toward Poland. And Poland also shoots down with its aircraft everything flying toward them and toward us,” said the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

“I believe it is fair to speak of joint decisions. (…) That is to say: we have an air defense system – we shoot down everything flying toward us and everything flying toward Poland,” said Zelensky, quoted on Saturday by Interfax-Ukraine.

The president added that he would expect the same actions from Poland.

“And likewise, Poland shoots down with its aircraft everything flying toward them, and everything flying toward us. Only the regions in the western part of our country can be taken into account – where Poland has capabilities. Or it may not only be Poland, but also Romania; we do not count on others,” added Zelensky.

Speaking about Donald Trump’s proposal that European countries give up Russian hydrocarbons, Zelensky emphasized that he supports the position of the American president.

“We are working with European countries to increasingly abandon Russian energy resources. Securing this is a very difficult process, though the result will be the most important. I believe that if President Trump takes significant steps, it will put greater pressure on some European states trading with Russia,” he said.
