    V4 leaders commemorated Lech and Maria Kaczyński

    On Wednesday evening, Prime Ministers of Poland and Hungary – Mateusz Morawiecki and Viktor Orban laid flowers at the tomb of the presidential couple Lech and Maria Kaczyński in the crypt of the Wawel Cathedral.

     

    Earlier, politicians attended the Holy Mass. which was chaired by Archbishop of Kraków Marek Jędraszewski.

    The Prime Ministers of Poland and Hungary were accompanied by their wives. Piotr Gliński, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture, was also present in the crypt. The gathered people said the Our Father prayer in Latin and laid flowers.

    In the crypt of the Wawel cathedral there is a sarcophagus of the presidential couple Lech and Maria Kaczyński and a plaque in honor of all the victims of the catastrophe on April 10, 2010 near Smolensk with the Latin sentence: “Corpora dormiunt, vigilant animae” (“The bodies are sleeping, the souls are watching”).

    On Wednesday, a summit of the heads of governments of the Visegrad Group countries was held in Krakow on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the group’s establishment. The Prime Ministers of Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia signed a joint declaration on the occasion of the anniversary and a declaration on mutual cooperation in digital projects.
