Le Pen Supports Simion and Accuses the European Commission

Marine Le Pen, leader of the National Rally in the French parliament, publicly expressed her support for George Simion, leader of Romania’s AUR party.

At the same time, Le Pen accused the European Commission of enabling the cancellation of Romania’s presidential elections.

In a statement, Le Pen emphasized that the elections in Romania had been “simply canceled, with the blessing of the European Commission.” She also voiced her “full and complete support” for George Simion, who secured over 40% of the vote in the first round.

According to official data, George Simion won the first round of the presidential election with 40.96% of the vote. In the second round, he will face Nicușor Dan, the mayor of Bucharest, who received 20.99% in the first round. The difference between the candidates in the first round was 1,882,994 votes.
