The snap local elections should be postponed due to the still unstable epidemic situation, assessed the Sanitary Inspectorate. It is recommended – as stated in the Friday press release – the second decade of June 2021.
Snap elections in Rzeszów were to take place on May 9.
“Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki received recommendations from the sanitary inspection regarding the postponement of election undertakings. The formal decision on the date of the election in Rzeszów and other local governments will be made at the beginning of next week,” said government spokesman Piotr Müller.
The announcement indicated that during the second and third waves of the epidemic in Poland, the dates of early elections of mayors and supplementary elections to municipal councils were postponed – following the recommendation of the Chief Sanitary Inspector, justified by the unfavorable epidemic situation in the country.
