Nearly 100 cultural events, including exhibitions, classes, theater, and film screenings prepared by institutions run or co-directed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, will commemorate the 101st anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw. The events will take place both in large cities and small towns.
On August 13–15, 1920, the decisive battle of the Polish-Bolshevik war took place on the outskirts of Warsaw. Referred to as the “Miracle on the Vistula” and considered the 18th crucial battle in the history of the world, it was decisive for Poland to retain its independence and save Europe from Bolshevism.
The Józef Piłsudski Museum in Sulejówek, opened a year ago, on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw and co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport, is involved in the celebration of the 101st anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw.
On Saturday, August 14, the Museum in Sulejówek will organize family classes called “Step on it” (“Gaz do dechy”), during which parents and children will build a model of an armored car. On Saturday and Sunday (10 am-7 pm) on the premises of the museum, you will be able to see, among others, the “Rosomak” armored personnel carrier and the Leopard tank. It will be an excellent occasion to celebrate Polish Army Day.
On August 13-15, at the Dramatic Theater in Warsaw, you will be able to see a musical portrait of Ignacy Paderewski, one of the fathers of Polish independence. These are just some of the announced ceremonial events.
