Last year, the local self-governments, where we operate, received over 200 million PLN directly from fees and taxes – said Robert Perkowski, the vice-president for operations of PGNiG, on Friday in Gdynia. He calculated that over 10 years the number of payments to local government budgets amounted to PLN 2.3 billion.
Robert Perkowski at the Development Vision Forum in Gdynia said that PGNiG in July last year. paid over PLN 1 billion in advance income tax payments at one time.
“It was a big deal because it involved Gazprom returning an overpaid amount in settlements for gas supplied to Poland between 2014 and 2020. Of course, these are funds that have gone into the state treasury. However, as far as our impact on local governments is concerned, we analyze our impact on local budgets cyclically and consciously, because we want to know its scale, we want to be in good relations with local governments, especially where we have our plants,” he declared.
“Last year, we paid more than PLN 200 million in mining fees and property taxes directly to the coffers of the local governments where we conduct our mining operations. Whereas in the period from 2009 to 2018 it amounted to over PLN 2.3 billion, so these are substantial sums and, what is worth emphasizing, paid directly to the budgets of the local self-governments,” the vice-president of PGNiG pointed out.
He also pointed out that the company through its cooperation with entrepreneurs, often small ones, also stimulates the local economy.
One of the main areas of activity of Polish Oil Mining and Gas Extraction S.A (PGNiG) is the exploration and production of natural gas and crude oil. The company’s facilities – mines, gas gathering centres, wells and other installations – operate in 10 provinces, although production is concentrated mainly in western and south-eastern Poland.
