Magdalena Fręch faces Anna Blinkova in Australian Open’s second round. Poland’s top players, Świątek and Hurkacz, play Thursday.
Polish tennis star Magdalena Fręch will face Russia’s Anna Blinkova in the second round of the Australian Open. The match is scheduled for Wednesday at 1:00 AM Polish time in Melbourne. Fręch, seeded 23rd, is looking to build on her success from last year, where she advanced to the Round of 16.
Tough Head-to-Head Record
Blinkova, ranked 73rd, has a 4-1 record against Fręch in previous meetings. However, all their encounters have been in qualifiers or lower-tier tournaments. With coach Andrzej Kobierski by her side, Fręch aims to break the trend and advance further in the prestigious Grand Slam event.
Poland’s Representation in Singles
Fręch will be the only Polish player competing in singles on Wednesday. Top-ranked Iga Świątek (seeded 2nd) and Hubert Hurkacz (18th seed) are scheduled for their second-round matches on Thursday. Kamil Majchrzak also hopes to progress after his opening match against Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta on Tuesday.
