“Europe in search of leadership”- this is the slogan of the Economic Forum 2021, which begins on Tuesday in Karpacz, where it will be held for the second time and where it has been officially moved permanently from Krynica-Zdrój. Representatives of the Polish government and businesses have announced their participation in the forum.
According to the organizers, “the Economic Forum in Karpacz is the biggest meeting platform in Central and Eastern Europe, where security, perspectives of economic development, contemporary challenges and overcoming crises are not only discussed but also specific solutions and innovative ideas are presented”.
This year’s edition of the Forum will begin on Tuesday at noon with the presentation of the Report of the Warsaw School of Economics and the Economic Forum, which will outline the key problems and challenges facing Poland and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. This year, the authors of the report devoted a lot of space to the social and economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, such as changes in the labour market, including a decrease in economic emigration, the situation of the health service, the response of tax policy to the crisis caused by the pandemic or the situation of the banking sector.
Topics at this year’s forum will focus on business, politics, climate, health, security, media and communications, and COVID-19 challenges, among others.
As a part of the Economic Forum, the 30th edition of the Carpathian Europe Conference will be held. Politicians, experts and representatives of non-governmental organizations will discuss key problems of Central and Eastern Europe. The talks will also concern the Green Deal, digitalisation, international politics between the USA – Europe – Russia – China, or partnership between Poland and Ukraine.
According to the information provided by the organisers, almost 200 events have been planned over the three days of the event, involving 3000 participants from Poland, Europe, Central Asia and the USA.
Karpacz will be visited, among others, by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki as well as heads and representatives of state-owned companies and private enterprises.
