“The costs of fuel and gas will surge due to ETS2. Polish families and small businesses will bear the burden. And the government is pretending the problem doesn’t exist. Donald Tusk mumbled something about it, but when Donald Tusk says something, it merely means he has spoken. Regrettably, he does nothing,” stated Piotr Müller, Member of the European Parliament representing Law and Justice (PiS).
ETS2 – Yet Another Price Hike Awaits Us
The EU ETS2 system, scheduled to come into effect in 2027, aims to extend the greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme to new sectors, including construction and transport. The emissions fee will be added to the final consumer price.
Piotr Müller, MEP (PiS), posted a statement on X, in which he declared that “the government has once again failed.”
“They are not utilizing the potential offered by the Polish presidency. If they do nothing and ETS1 and ETS2 systems remain in place – all Polish citizens will pay the price,”
he wrote.
“The Government Pretends the Problem Doesn’t Exist”
The MEP also attached a video to his post, in which he warned of the consequences of maintaining the ETS2 system.
“Do you remember when I spoke about what we should demand from the Polish presidency? Among other things, withdrawing from the ETS2 system. Unfortunately, nothing has been done in this regard. And because of this, fuel and gas prices will soar. Polish families and small businesses will bear the cost. And the government pretends the problem doesn’t exist,”
he said.
He reminded viewers that “Donald Tusk mumbled something about it during his speech in the European Parliament.”
“But as usual: when Donald Tusk says something, it means he says it. Sadly, he does nothing,”
he concluded.
