The post-pandemic world has changed in many ways. Participants of the plenary session during the XXX Economic Forum in Karpacz discussed the challenges of the post-war era.
The second day of the XXX Economic Forum in Karpacz has been inaugurated with the plenary session “Challenges of the post-Covid era”. It was attended by the Vice President of Liberia, Jewel Howard-Taylor, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport, Piotr Gliński, former Prime Minister of Ukraine, Chairman of the Party “Ukrainian Strategy”, Volodymyr Hrojsman, president of the Assembly of European Regions, Magnus Berntsson, and President of the Management Board of Żabka Polska Sp. z o.o., Tomasz Suchański. The moderator was Michał Karnowski, member of the Management Board of Fratria Sp. z o.o.
– We have all been affected by the pandemic, every nation has to fight the same adversity at this time,” said Jewel Howard-Taylor. However, the Vice President of Liberia pointed out that for African countries, many of these challenges were already a daily reality before the pandemic. Howard-Taylor also spoke about the need to draw attention to the situation of women in recent months.
Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Glinski said during the debate about various challenges that were not necessarily directly related to coronavirus, but would nevertheless be of great importance in the near future. Among other things, the Minister spoke about the need for leadership, the crisis of global culture, and the new conflict of generations. He also referred to the role of the state and the family in dealing with these challenges.
– I do not see anything positive in the consequences of the pandemic – said the former Prime Minister of Ukraine, Volodymyr Hrojsman – The pandemic showed us all our weaknesses, exposed a high level of selfishness.
– Recent months have brought important challenges for our regions, above all they have widened social and economic inequalities between regions – said Magnus Berntsson. However, the President of the Assembly of European Regions pointed out that the pandemic had significantly accelerated the digitalization of many processes. Berntsson also said the biggest challenge of the post-Covid era is the climate crisis.
Tomasz Suchański introduced the business perspective to the debate. – The pandemic has changed a lot of consumer behavior and the mode of operation of companies. This is a great opportunity for us, but also a great responsibility.
The President of Żabka Sp. z o.o. also pointed out the uncertainty of the current situation: “At the moment, we don’t know how long this crisis will last. Therefore, instead of plans, we need to create scenarios, to be ready for different circumstances.
