Polish national team defeated France 2:0 in the quarterfinals of the European Championships in amputee football played in Krakow. In Saturday’s semi-final, the White and Red team will face Spain.
From the first whistle, Marek Dragosz’s charges dictated their conditions. In the 7th minute, Kamil Grygiel showed off with a precise shot from an acute angle and put the ball in the net. The Polish players consistently strived to increase the lead. They had several opportunities, and the closest to success was in the downtime of the first half Bartosz Łastowski. However, the Legia Warszawa player hit the post.

After the break, the Poles still prevailed. In the 30th minute, Krystian Kapłon missed an excellent opportunity. After a shot by a Wisła Kraków player, the ball bounced off the crossbar. In the 35th minute, however, it was already 2:0. Grygiel found himself in a one-on-one situation and with a confident shot beat the rivals’ goalkeeper. The Wisła Kraków player was close to completing a hat-trick, but after a complex, team action he hit the post. The white-red team controlled the course of the game until the end and did not allow their rivals to work out even one goal opportunity.
“We were calm because we know our worth. The match was under our control, we knew how the French play and how we want to play against them. Everything has been accomplished. A quick goal made it easy for us,”
– summarized coach Dragosz.
In Saturday’s semi-final (stadium Cracovia, at 15.00) the Poles will face Spain, with whom they drew 1:1 in Wednesday’s group match. The Spanish in the quarterfinals quite unexpectedly – after the penalty shootout – eliminated the English. In the other semifinal, Turkey will play against Russia.
